Armstrong House Extension and Remodel
We worked with the Society over several years, refining the brief and design until we had something that was the perfect fit.

Armstrong House in Bamburgh has an enviable view towards Bamburgh Castle. It is also Grade II Listed and has been home to the Abbeyfield Society for over 30yrs. Over this time is has been home to many elderly residents. With changes to legislation and the age and frailty of incoming residents, the Society needed a building that better met these needs. The aim was to make a small but significant intervention to allow level acccess to the gorund floor and bring all the main social spaces together. We designed a grass-roofed axtension that would form a new, light-filled hub space with a terrace to allow frail and less able residents to access the outdoors.
